Electricity Consumption Calculator
Estimate how much electricity your appliances use and what they may cost each month.
How appliance consumption is calculated
Energy use is calculated from an appliance's power rating, hours of use, quantity and days in the month. One unit of electricity is one kilowatt-hour (kWh).
Monthly units = (watts × hours/day × quantity × days) ÷ 1,000
The cost estimate multiplies monthly units by the electricity rate you enter. Appliance power ratings and actual usage vary; check the appliance label and your bill for better estimates. NEA tariffs use progressive slabs, so a flat per-unit rate is an approximation.
For an estimate using residential NEA tariff slabs, use the electricity bill calculator.
